Disney+'s latest Star Wars spin-off has broken records with its impressive series premiere after amassing a remarkable 4.8 million views on its first day of release.

AceShowbiz - "The Acolyte" has made a strong debut on Disney+, amassing a remarkable 4.8 million views on its first day of release. This achievement marks the streamer's biggest series premiere of 2024 to date. In comparison, while Disney+ did not report same-day viewership for "Ahsoka", another recent "Star Wars" series, it did reach 14 million views within its first five days on the platform.

Starring Amandla Stenberg as twins Osha and Mae, "The Acolyte" follows a Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) as he investigates a series of crimes and encounters a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg). As the story unfolds, they delve into a dark realm where sinister forces threaten their understanding of reality.

The series also features a star-studded cast including Charlie Barnett, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Carrie-Anne Moss, Manny Jacinto, Dean-Charles Chapman and Joonas Suotamo. Created by Leslye Headland, the series is set towards the end of the High Republic era, roughly 100 years before "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace".

Headland's previous credits include co-creating the Netflix hit "Russian Doll" as well as writing and directing the films "Bachelorette" and "Sleeping With Other People".
