The Miami Beach Commission rescinds the Diddy Day recognition dedicated to the Bad Boy Records founder, which has been celebrated on October 13 since 2016, 'without discussion.'

AceShowbiz - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs gets his day no more in Miami Beach. The rapper, who has been a staple of the Miami Beach Star Island community where he owns a mansion, has got the honor revoked amid the fallout of sexual assault lawsuits against him.

According to the Miami Herald, the Miami Beach Commission made the decision to rescind the recognition on Wednesday, June 26. It appears that they believe that the decision was a no-brainer as it was made "without discussion."

The Diddy Day had been celebrated in Miami Beach since 2016. That year, at the kick-off celebration for the third REVOLT Music Conference, Mayor Philip Levine proclaimed October 13 to be "Sean Diddy Combs Day."

Prior to this, Diddy was asked to return his key to New York City by Mayor Eric Adams. The embattled hip-hop mogul obliged and returned his key on June 10, sending it back to Adams' offices after receiving letters asking for it to be sent back to City Hall.

"Like many people, I was deeply disturbed by recent footage of Sean 'Diddy' Combs assaulting his then partner," the Mayor wrote in the letters sent on June 4. "I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence."

"The Key to the City of New York is presented to individuals whose service to the public and the common good rises to the highest level of achievement, and who act as a model for fellow and future New Yorkers," Adams explained. "After internal deliberations, the Key to the City of New York committee recommended nullifying and rescinding Mr. Combs' key."

The request was made after CNN published in May a video of Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie at a hotel in Los Angeles in 2016. In his apology video, he admitted, "It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f**ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom - but I make no excuses."

"I take full responsibility for my actions in that video - disgusting. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now. I went out and sought professional help. I got into going to therapy, had to go into rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace," the 54-year-old continued. "But I'm committed to being a better man every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."

Diddy recently wiped his Instagram page clean, including his apology video for Cassie. Sources, however, insisted that he wasn't taking a dig at Cassie by getting rid of his apology and that Diddy meant what he said in the apology clip.
