AceShowbiz - During the 2024 BET Awards, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) debuted the trailer for his forthcoming film "Bando Stone & The New World". The trailer, which initially ran during commercials during the event, was later released in its full two-minute version on Gambino's YouTube account.
In the film, Gambino portrays Bando Stone, a renowned musician who traverses a desolate world devoid of humans until he encounters a woman and her child. Together, they navigate a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world brimming with colossal squids and menacing emu-like birds.
The trailer questions, "What are you when the world ends?" While an official release date for the film remains undisclosed, it will be released this year alongside its soundtrack. "Bando Stone & The New World" will screen exclusively in IMAX theaters.
Glover is also preparing to release an album of the same name, which will serve as the soundtrack to the film. This album will be the second and final release under his Childish Gambino moniker, following "Atavista", which was released earlier this year.
Gambino's latest musical venture is part of a comprehensive series of projects, including the "New World Tour", a North American, European, Australian and New Zealand tour launching in August, and his GILGA radio show, where he revealed his plans for two final Childish Gambino albums.
Despite his acclaim in other areas, Glover expressed his frustration with the BET Awards at the ceremony, claiming he has not received the recognition he believes he deserves.
