J.K. Rowling announces a new TV adaptation of the beloved wizarding world, featuring an esteemed production team and promising to live up to fan expectations.

AceShowbiz - Following the magical adventures of "Harry Potter" on the silver screen, a highly anticipated TV series is now in development. Executive producer J.K. Rowling has confirmed that the upcoming series will be a "faithful adaptation" of her cherished book series, exceeding fan expectations.

Warner Bros., the studio behind the original films, has appointed Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, both known for their exceptional work on the acclaimed drama "Succession" as executive producers of the TV series. Gardiner will serve as showrunner and writer, while Mylod, a veteran director on "Game of Thrones" and "The Last Of Us", will direct multiple episodes.

Rowling expressed her excitement over the production team's passion for the "Harry Potter" universe, "Both have a genuine passion for 'Harry Potter', and having read Francesca's pilot script and heard Mark's vision, I'm certain the TV show will more than live up to expectations."

The beloved characters of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger will be played by a new cast, which will be announced at a later date.

Warner Bros. emphasized the significance of the original films while embracing the new adaptation, "Each season will bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and cherished films will remain at the core of the franchise."

Rowling, who initially envisioned "Harry Potter" in 1990 while on a train journey, admitted that completing the book series was both a relief and a sense of loss. She shared, "The idea I would never be able to escape there again was a bereavement."

Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed Harry Potter in the films, has expressed his support for the TV series, saying, "I'm very happy to just watch along with everyone else."

HBO Max, the streaming platform behind the project, announced the "Harry Potter" TV adaptation in April 2023, stating that the stories "will become a decade-long series produced with the same epic craft, love and care this global franchise is known for."

The release date for the "Harry Potter" TV series has yet to be announced.
