'Inside Out' Spin-Off Series Is 'Finished

Chief Creative Officer at Pixar Animation Studios, Pete Docter, has shared details about the upcoming 'Inside Out' spin-off series, set to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.

Scheduled for a spring 2025 release, the new series will continue to delve into Riley's dream world, examining how dreams affect our waking lives. Docter shared, "We have finished. It's coming out next spring. I'm not sure that there's been a specific release date."

Docter reminisced about the original film's innovative depiction of Dream Production, adding, "In the first film, remember we go to Dream Production to see how Riley's dreams are made? It semi-explains why they're so weird." He elaborated on the new series' focus, stating, "We've continued the exploration of the power of dreams and how they affect us in our waking life, as well. So it's pretty cool."

The announcement of the "Inside Out" spin-off series comes on the heels of the phenomenal success of "Inside Out 2", which has set multiple box office records globally. With a domestic opening of $154.2 million, "Inside Out 2" achieved the second-biggest animated debut of all time and the second-largest for Pixar. It also became the highest-grossing animated movie worldwide with a staggering $295 million opening weekend.

In "Inside Out 2", fans witnessed the return of beloved characters with Amy Poehler reprising her role as Joy. Directed by Kelsey Mann and written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, the sequel continues to portray Riley's emotional adventures, voiced by Kensington Tallman. Familiar voices from the first film, such as Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan, also reunite. Additionally, the film welcomed new talents like Maya Hawke, Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Ayo Edebiri and others to the diverse voice cast.
