The 'Transformers' actor joins his 'Megalopolis' co-stars when gracing the red carpet at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, marking his first red carpet appearance in four years.

AceShowbiz - Shia LaBeouf is returning to the spotlight. The 37-year-old actor was pictured gracing the red carpet at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in France, marking his first red carpet appearance in four years.

The actor attended the star-studded event, which took place on Thursday, May 16, for the premiere of Francis Ford Coppola's new film "Megalopolis". In the movie, the "Transformers" actor plays Clodio Pulcher.

For the film festival, LaBeouf looked dapper in a classic black suit that he paired with a white undershirt and a black ribbon tie. He was photographed posing on the red carpet alongside other cast members, including Grace VanderWaal, D. B. Sweeney, Chloe Fineman, Kathryn Hunter, Aubrey Plaza and Adam Driver among others, as well as director Coppola.

The last time LaBeouf made his major red carpet appearance was in February 2020. At the time, the star attended the 92nd annual Academy Awards to present the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film alongside his "The Peanut Butter Falcon" co-star Zack Gottsagen.

Meanwhile, "Megalopolis" marked LaBeouf's first acting role after starring in 2020 biopic "Padre Pico". The movie was released months before his ex-girlfriend FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against him for sexual battery and "relentless abuse."

LaBeouf was initially set to star in "Don't Worry Darling" which was directed by Olivia Wilde before being fired during filming. Wilde noted that his acting process did not help create "a safe, trusting environment" on set.

The actor, however, denied that he was let go and claimed that he "quit the film due to lack of rehearsal time" on August 17, 2020. "My failings with Twigs are fundamental and real, but they are not the narrative that has been presented," LaBeouf told Wilde in an email obtained by Variety. "There is a time and a place to deal with such things, and I am trying to navigate a nuanced situation with respect for her and the truth, hence my silence."
