Malina Weissman, who stars in 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', lands a key role in the upcoming drama pilot.

AceShowbiz - CBS has found its young Supergirl. Malina Weissman, who played a young April (Megan Fox) in 2014's feature film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", is cast as young Kara Zor-El. "Glee" alum Melissa Benoist has been earlier tapped to play the adult version of the character, which is the center of the story in the upcoming pilot.

THR says Weissman will guest star in the pilot, confirming speculation that the potential series will feature flashbacks to the titular superheroine's early years as a child. It's unknown if the child actress will recur in other episodes should CBS move forward with the pilot.

"Supergirl" tells the story of Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El, who also lands on Earth after escaping Krypton. She's been hiding the powers she shares with Superman, but later decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

An official first look at Melissa Benoist in Supergirl's costume was recently released. The actress was also spotted filming the show in normal outfits in Los Angeles on Monday, March 9.

The drama pilot also stars Calista Flockhart as Kara's boss Cat Grant, Mehcad Brooks as Kara's love interest Jimmy Olsen, Laura Benanti as her birth mother Alura Zor-El, Chyler Leigh as Kara's foster sister Alex Danvers, David Harewood as Hank Hensha, Jeremy Jordan as Toyman, and Farah Tahir as The Commander. Dean Cain and Helen Slater are additionally cast in undisclosed roles.
