Besides the Australian actress, 'CODA' star Emilia Jones and 'American Housewife' alum Meg Donnelly are reportedly going to screen test for the lead role in the DC movie.

AceShowbiz - "House of the Dragon" star Milly Alcock is circling a DC movie for her next big screen project. The actress, who is best known internationally through her role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen on HBO's "Game of Thrones" prequel series, is said to be one of the top contenders for James Gunn's "Supergirl".

According to Deadline, the 23-year-old Australian star is up against "CODA" star Emilia Jones and former "American Housewife" actress Meg Donnelly for the lead role in the upcoming superhero movie. DC Studios reportedly plans to test screen all three actresses soon before making the decision on who will star in the movie.

Words are Supergirl will not yet appear in her own movie. The character will likely make its debut via a cameo in a DC project that that may lead to a solo feature film, akin to Tom Holland and Chadwick Boseman's appearances in "Captain America: Civil War".

A Supergirl movie, however, has been planned. Back in January 2023, Gunn and co-DC chief Peter Safran announced "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow", which is based on Tom King's comic book series from 2022. A search for director is still ongoing.

The movie is set to be written by Ana Hogueira. In his Gods and Monsters launch video, Gunn explained the fundamental differences between Superman and Supergirl. "In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl," he divulged. "She's much more hardcore, she's not exactly the Supergirl we're use to seeing."

Gunn is currently set to direct "Superman: Legacy", which will begin filming this spring in Georgia. David Corenswet is set to make his debut as Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan being tapped to portray Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult being cast as Lex Luther. Other cast members include Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Anthony Carrigan, Isabel Merced and Nathan Fillion.
