In a gripping psychological thriller directed by Paul Scheuring, twenty-six men are lured by a lucrative offer to participate in a two-week prison simulation. Among them are the mild-mannered Travis, played by Adrien Brody, and the intense, volatile Barris, portrayed by Forest Whitaker. They are randomly assigned roles as either prisoners or guards, with simple rules to maintain order for the duration of the experiment. What begins as a clinical study quickly descends into a harrowing battle for survival as the artificial power dynamics corrupt the guards, led by Barris, and push the prisoners, including Travis, to their absolute limits. The film masterfully builds a claustrophobic atmosphere of escalating tension and brutality, exploring how quickly civilized behavior can unravel when absolute authority is granted. As the lines between experiment and reality blur, the participants must confront the darkest aspects of human nature in a struggle that threatens to consume them all.
