In an ambitious move, the music producer, who created famous boy band One Direction, teams up with the streaming platform to discover the next global boyband sensation.

AceShowbiz - Simon Cowell, the entertainment mogul recognized for his contributions to shows like "American Idol", "America's Got Talent", and "The X Factor", has signed a monumental deal with streaming giant Netflix. The new series, aptly named "Simon Cowell: Midas Touch", aims to unearth the next big boyband, akin to One Direction, which Cowell famously propelled to global stardom.

According to a source who spoke to The Sun, "Netflix is the perfect place for his new show and Box To Box, who are producing the series, have worked with them before. Simon and his team have been working so hard on getting the show off the ground and a final deal is so close now. The name of the show has amused people behind the scenes. Simon knows he is the best at what he does and calling his show Midas Touch gives a new meaning to blowing your own trumpet."

Set to begin with "X Factor"-style boot camp auditions, the search for new talent will kick off in Newcastle on July 4 and 5, followed by auditions in Liverpool, Dublin, and London. Cowell expresses the urgent need to find breakthrough talent in the U.K., lamenting that record labels are not signing enough new artists amid fierce online competition. "Right now, record labels aren't signing enough new talent. The amount of U.K. artists who are breaking worldwide has literally fallen off a cliff because I think there is too much competition online," he told the Daily Mail.
