The former 'The Bachelorette' star reflects on why she wishes she had a prenup with estranged husband Bryan, who is seeking spousal support in their divorce.

AceShowbiz - Rachel Lindsay, the former star of "The Bachelorette", is opening up about why she regrets not having a prenuptial agreement (prenup) with ex-husband Bryan Abasolo.

During a recent episode of the "Hidden Gems with Natasha Parker" podcast, Lindsay, 39, explained that the topic of a prenup did come up when she and Abasolo, 44, married in 2019. However, they couldn't agree on the matter.
"It was just a different time," Lindsay said. "We weren't on the same page with prenups, and I didn't want it to be a bigger issue."

Abasolo filed for divorce from Lindsay in December and is now requesting spousal support and $75,000 for legal fees. Lindsay, a former lawyer, admits that she's been asked why she didn't insist on a prenup given her legal background.

"The place that I'm in now, financially, is totally different than when I got married," Lindsay said. "Looking back, I should have gotten a prenup regardless of my financial situation. It's not about being 'unsexy' or 'planning for divorce'-it's about protecting your interests."

Lindsay believes that prenups can also help individuals secure financial stability if they end up divorced, especially if one partner has sacrificed their career for the family.

Despite their "amicable" split, Lindsay finds Abasolo's divorce filing "unnecessarily messy." She also admits that she and Abasolo treat each other differently now, which makes it challenging since they still live together.

"It's not easy," Lindsay said. "I am working through my feelings with an expert because there's a notable difference in how I feel when Bryan is home and when he's not."

Lindsay's experience highlights the importance of prenups, which can provide financial protection and clarity in the event of a divorce.
