The acting vet will no longer be honored with a coveted National Association of Broadcasters award after slamming the former president of the United States while celebrating the latter's guilty verdict.

AceShowbiz - Robert De Niro's recent outburst against Donald Trump may cost him an award. The acting vet will no longer be honored with a coveted National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) award after slamming the former POTUS while celebrating the latter's guilty verdict.

A spokesperson for the group told The Hill on Thursday, May 30 that their event was "proudly bipartisan." It added, "While we strongly support the right of every American to exercise free speech and participate in civic engagement, it is clear that Mr. De Niro's recent high-profile activities will create a distraction from the philanthropic work that we were hoping to recognize. To maintain the focus on service of the award winners, Mr. De Niro will no longer be attending the event."

The "Ezra" actor responded to the decision in a statement, in which he said that he would continue to appreciate the group despite the decision. "I support the work of the NAB Leadership Foundation and would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for what the Foundation has done and will continue to do for the good of us all, and I wish them well for their continued good work," the statement read, according to The Hill.

De Niro, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump, reacted to the outcome of the trial on the red carpet of his new movie "Ezra" earlier this week. "I'm always very weary. I don't wanna get too excited about anything," the 81-year-old said at the screening in New York City. "It's as it should be. Justice has been served. That's it. For me, it's not over 'til it's over."

In a separate interview at the same event, De Niro elaborated more on his thoughts on the verdict. "I think justice was served, This is just one part of the whole picture, so I want to be very careful," he shared.

"This never should have gotten to this stage," he continued, "I don't want to be talking, but I am so upset by it. I have to say something. This is my country. This guy wants to destroy it. Period. He's crazy."
