AceShowbiz - Netflix has released a new trailer of its upcoming David Fincher-directed crime series "Mindhunter". The one-minute trailer sees two FBI agents, played by Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany, trying to answer the question which McCallany' Bill Tench popped in the previous trailer that read, "How do we get ahead of crazy if we don't know how crazy thinks?"
Groff's Holden Ford and Tench, who look to pioneer the development of modern serial killer profiling, go around to interview and profile some of the most sadistic and terrifying killers at the American prison system. Among them is Edmund Kemper, who is also known as the Coed Killer for picking up hitch-hiking college coeds. "My name is Bill Tench and this is my partner Holden Ford. We're from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Behavioral Science Unit. We're doing research, interviewing men like you," Tench says.
However, one thing bothers them: their boss. Tench says, "If Shepard [Cotter Smith] finds out you've been interviewing the Coed Killer, he'll flip his s**t." Ford replies, "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission."
Backed with Talking Heads' "Psychokiller", the trailer suggests that the upcoming series will offer something like Fincher's "Zodiac" in terms of the tone.
Set in 1979, "Mindhunter" is based on 1996's "Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit" written by famed FBI agent John Douglas and Mark Olshaker. It follows two FBI agents in the serial crime unit who set out on a sinister investigative odyssey to discover the brutal answers.
In addition to directing, Fincher serves as an executive producer alongside Charlize Theron, Joshua Donen ("Gone Girl", "The Quick and the Dead") and Cean Chaffin ("Gone Girl", "Fight Club").
"Mindhunter" is set to premiere on October 13 on Netflix.
