Alessia Cara Biography

Alessia Cara is a Canadian singer and songwriter from Brampton, Ontario, a city just outside of Toronto. She was born Alessia Caracciolo on July 11, 1996. As a child, she wrote poetry and did theater. At the age of 10 she began playing guitar and taught herself how to play various songs. At the age of 13 she began her own YouTube channel where she posted covers of songs that she performed.

After graduating from high school, Cara didn't go straight to college. She continued working on her music, regularly uploading her performance videos on YouTube and making appearances on various radio stations including 15 Seconds of Fame on Mix 104.1 Boston. She eventually landed a major-label recording contract with Def Jam Recordings in 2015, when she's 18.

She released her major label debut single "Here" in April that year. A collaboration with producers Andrew "Pop" Wansel, Warren "Oak" Felder and Coleridge Tillman, the song is based on Cara's personal experience as a person who hates parties.

The song was a success with numerous music magazines adding it to their "must hear songs" lists. In July 2015, Cara made her television debut, performing the track on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".

"Here" is featured on her debut EP "Four Pink Walls" which was released on August 26, 2015 to positive reviews. The set also includes "Seventeen", "Outlaws", "I'm Yours" and the title track "Four Pink Walls".

The hit will also made the cut to Cara's debut album. Titled "Know-It-All", her first full-length is scheduled to come out on November 13.
