In a new interview, Kacey celebrates the anniversary of her album 'Pageant Material' by sharing a special story about her collaboration with the country legend.

AceShowbiz - On June 24, Kacey Musgraves celebrated the nine-year anniversary of her album "Pageant Material" by sharing an Instagram post that revealed an intimate connection with country legend Willie Nelson.

Musgraves recounted the first time she smoked marijuana with Nelson in 2014 while opening for him and Alison Krauss. Amidst conversations about various topics, she asked Nelson about his song "Are You Sure". To her surprise, Nelson spontaneously played the song on his guitar, and the moment inspired Musgraves to ask him to record it with her. Next thing she knew, they were in Austin filming the music video.

"It's a good thing there is visual record of this moment in my life - otherwise I wouldn’t believe that it wasn’t just some hazy, sparkly, pipe dream that never actually happened," Musgraves wrote.

In March 2024, Musgraves revealed that she had stopped smoking weed, calling it "early-20s Kacey behavior." However, she expressed openness to exploring it again in the future.

Despite their musical collaboration, Nelson recently canceled several shows due to health reasons. Lukas Nelson and special guests will fill in for him until his return.

Musgraves' story highlights the unexpected connections and creative moments that can arise from shared experiences, even when they involve altered states of mind. It also serves as a reminder of the enduring power of music and the special bond that can exist between artists.
