The 'Follow Your Arrow' crooner recalls her conservative grandmother's shocked reaction when she showed her elderly relative the raunchy cover of her album 'Deeper Well'.

AceShowbiz - Kacey Musgraves' family is known for openly sharing their opinions on her career, particularly her grandmother, Barbara. When Musgraves, 35, showed her family alternate album covers for her new release, "Deeper Well", the reaction to her nude cover was priceless.

"Nana gasped like she just saw a car wreck," Musgraves recalled on "Today's Country Radio." Barbara exclaimed, "No! That's not... that's a cover?"

Undeterred, Musgraves explained her artistic vision, describing the photo of her curled up naked on the ground as "vulnerable and almost like rebirth." However, Barbara had her own perspective, "Kacey, you're a singer, not a stripper."

Musgraves' response was both cheeky and defiant, "Well, you know what? You can be both."

It's not the first time Barbara has voiced her disapproval. In 2018, Musgraves revealed that her grandmother had scolded her for cursing. Despite her grandma's protests, Musgraves has embraced these quirks, even referencing her reactions in her lyrics. In "Slow Burn," she sings, "Texas is hot / I can be cold / Grandma cried when I pierced my nose."

Musgraves' grandmother's candid responses add a humorous touch to her journey as an artist. While she may not always approve of Musgraves' choices, she remains a steadfast supporter of her granddaughter's unique brand of self-expression.
