When announcing the sad news, Jones, who won world boxing championships in four different weight classes, also asks fans to 'respect our privacy while my family and I process this loss.'

AceShowbiz - Roy Jones Jr. has sadly lost his child. Revealing that his son DeAndre died by suicide, the legendary boxer sent encouraging messages to fans who are also "going through tough times right now."

The 55-year-old broke the sad news via Instagram on Monday, June 24. Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his life on Saturday," he began. "I'm so thankful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last night of his life with me and the family."

"I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life," the mourning dad continued. "God gives it and God should be the one to take it away."

Jones, who won world boxing championships in four different weight classes, went on to ask fans to "please respect our privacy while my family and I process this loss." He then concluded his message by writing, "Thank you for the love and support."

Many have since sent prayers and offered their condolences. One in particular was Brazilian-American mixed martial artist Cris Cyborg, who commented, "My heart aches for you and your family. I pray you are surrounded by an abundance of love and god protects you and your family while giving his guidance as you grieve."

British former professional boxer Amir Khan replied, "My deepest condolences brother I am so sorry. Praying for your family." Actor and comedian Martin Lawrence joined in, "My condolences brotha."

More details about DeAndre's death have yet to be revealed. He is additionally survived by his mother, Natlyn, and brothers Roy III and DeShaun.
