AceShowbiz - Bijou Phillips has stepped out for the first time since a report about her leaving Scientology circulated online. Shortly after it was revealed that she quietly cut ties with the church, the "Almost Famous" actress appeared somber in a new sighting.

On Wednesday, January 17, the 43-year-old actress was spotted out and about in California. In pictures obtained and published by Daily Mail, she could be seen making her way out of a drug store with her 9-year-old daughter Fianna, whom she shares with her estranged husband Danny Masterson.

Bijou was caught on camera running errands and picking up a number of supplies with Fianna, who was photographed carrying a cup of ice cream in one of her hands. The mother and daughter duo were pictured leaving the drug store before heading back to her ranch in the Santa Ynez mountains.

Throughout the shopping spree, the actress, who let loose her natural beach waves blonde hair, looked downcast as she walked in a parking lot. She was holding her smartphone and a shopping bag in one of her hands. She looked at the camera several times without flashing a smile.

The new sighting came a few hours after Bijou made headlines due to a report suggesting that she quietly left Scientology. Earlier that same day, a source, who claimed to have "close ties to former Scientology members," spilled to the media outlet that she decided to quit the organization because she wanted to keep communicating with Danny. The source also revealed that she was supported by her sister Chynna Phillips.

"Bijou left a few weeks after she found out that Danny had been declared an SP [Suppressive Person] for not living up to the standards of the church," the source stated. "It's never an easy decision to leave Scientology because you face being ripped apart from your family and friends who are still members."

"In Bijou's case, she had nothing to lose and wasn't about to cut ties with Danny, per Scientology's disconnection rules. Bijou would never do that to her daughter, plus her sisters, her close friends; none of them are Scientologists," the source added.

In September 2023, Danny was slapped with 30-year prison sentence for two counts of forcible rape. In October of that same year, he was expelled from the organization and labeled as a "Suppressive Person." As a result, active members of the church are not allowed to be in contact with him.
