AceShowbiz - Antonio Brown has sparked backlash from Nipsey Hussle's fans for making references to the late rapper. The football player quoted the slain hip-hop star's iconic phrase "the marathon continues" after he was released from the New England Patriots, just days after he signed the $15 million deal.

The 31-year-old athlete also posted a photo of Nipsey along with a bell hooks quote, "Sometimes people try to destroy you precisely because they recognize your power; Not because they don't see it, but because they see it and they don't want it to exist."

Instead of sympathizing with Antonio, many people are enraged by his social media posts as he appeared to compare his downfall to Nipsey's journey. "Don't you DARE use Nipsey to victimize yourself. You did this to yourself," one person tweeted.

Another reacted to his Twitter posts, "You ain't Nipsey brother, slow down lol." Someone else commented, "Don't be using a legend to help ur innocence you wild stallion. You shoulda just played ball instead of bugging out. And now ur OUT coulda shoulda woulda been the best WR in the history books but you stole from people who trusted you #bye aB got stung."

Someone else called out Antonio, "Except Nipsey was a saint and your a damn fool." Another judged the wide receiver, "Bro nipsey would never support you. He was a real one. And in the streets your a no good cat. And in jail. Well let's just say your be alone in your cell for your own protection. Pathetic."

The New England Patriots announced on Friday, September 20 that it cut its deal with Antonio as he's currently under investigation by the NFL about multiple sexual abuse allegations against him. "The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time," the team said in a statement.

The NFL also addressed the ongoing investigation, "Antonio Brown was released today by the New England Patriots and is currently an unrestricted free agent. Our office is presently investigating multiple allegations, some of which are the subject of pending litigation."

"We have as yet made no findings regarding these issues," it added. "The investigation is ongoing and will be pursued vigorously and expeditiously. As long as Mr. Brown is a free agent, placement on the Commissioners Exempt list is not appropriate. If he is signed by a club, such placement may become appropriate at any time depending on the status of the investigation. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, he may also be subject to discipline if the investigation finds that he has violated the law or the league policies."
