The 'Wendy Williams Show' host explains during the FWD conference that she used to be controlled by Kevin when it comes to business, though it's no longer the case now.

AceShowbiz - Her split from Kevin Hunter, who used to be her manager, surely brings changes to Wendy Williams. "The Wendy Williams Show" host recently said she's now very on-hand about her business, something that she never did before when she was still with Kevin.

"You've gotta be at the ground floor of your operation," the 54-year-old TV personality said during the FWD conference on Thursday, June 20. "I don't care how big you get. … Don't just rely on your team to bring back the information because you're such a big shot and you don't have to be there."

Wendy explained that she used to be controlled by Kevin when it comes to business, though it's no longer the case now. "Now, the difference in my business is that -- you know, 'cause it used to be Kev and the team would show up, and then Kev wouldn't bring me in until he knew, 'OK, the deal's done. Now it's time for you to meet the people,' " she said. "Not now. I wanna be in on the first conversation of the deal, and I wanna be on every meeting until the deal is done. And that's the way I roll."

The "Ask Wendy" author went on advising female audience members to step back from their love lives and family plans to focus on building their careers in their 20s. However, she also noted that she didn't completely abandon romance. "I am a wife or a serious girlfriend," she clarified. "I'm not one of these girls who, you know, 'I don't need no man.' "

Wendy filed for divorce from Kevin back in April, ending their 21 years of marriage. The pair share 18-year-old son Kevin Jr., who recently was involved in a physical altercation with his dad over the divorce battle.
