Staying true to the award category, the 'Identity Thief' looks extra in an elaborate gown that is adorned with dozens of cute stuffed animal rabbits.

AceShowbiz - Several actors and movie folks celebrated their victories at the 91st Academy Awards that is currently underway at the Dolby Theater. Melissa McCarthy may not be up for the award, but it seems like the actress/comedienne is already a winner in the eyes of people of Twitterverse.

The "Life of the Party" star, who was tapped as one of the award presenters on the Sunday, February 24 event, caught people's attention with her stunning skit. Alongside Brian Tyree Henry, Melissa took the stage to present the award for best costume design.

Staying true to the award category, Melissa looked extra in an elaborate gown that was adorned with dozens of cute stuffed animal rabbits. She and Brian, who also donned an equally dramatic ensemble of his own, made everyone laugh with their parody of "The Favourite".

"These artists create a prestige of textiles with authenticity yet never distract from the story," Melissa depanned to the camera as her rabbit puppet stole the camera's focus. "Costume designers construct the looks around a character to a particular time and place in the subtlest, subtlest of ways."

Brian agreed, saying, "So true."

Viewers were loving her skit with one Twitter user writing, "PSA: Melissa McCarthy should host the #Oscars next year." Echoing the idea, another fan added, "I'd like Melissa McCarthy to host next year's #Oscars please."

Meanwhile, another fan proposed to have Melissa as the permanent host for the Oscars. "Melissa McCarthy to host every year. How difficult is this?" the fan tweeted. Another comment read, "Melissa McCarthy's Cape. THE best thing I ever saw at the Oscars!"

During the skit, the actress appeared to struggle to open the envelop because of her rabbit hand puppet. However, she successfully opened it and announced that the winner of the category was "Black Panther" costume designer Ruth E. Carter.

"This has been a long time coming," she laughed while holding the statue. "Spike Lee, thank you for my start. I hope this make you proud. "Marvel may have created the first black superhero, but through costume design, we turned him into an African king," she said on the stage. Meanwhile, star Chadwick Boseman beamed from the audience.
