The actress, who stars on The CW's 'Arrow', says that his father's last words will be a daily reminder for her 'to never waste another minute' with loved ones.

AceShowbiz - Katie Cassidy has finally broken her silence on her father David Cassidy's death. The actress, who is known for her role as Laurel Lance a.k.a. Black Canary on The CW's "Arrow", took to Twitter on Friday, November 24 to thank everyone for their support and reveal his last words.

"Words cant express the solace our family's received from all the love & support during this trying time," she wrote. "My father's last words were 'So much wasted time'. This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute....thank you."

Katie is David's daughter with fashion model Sherry Williams Benedon. She was raised by her mother and her stepfather Richard Benedon. In 2009, David told PEOPLE about his role in his daughter's life, "Because I didn't raise her, I didn't have to parent her. I'm always here and totally nonjudgmental."

Katie said at the time, "To be able to go to someone I'm genetically linked to, tell them anything and know that they're not going to judge me - it's unbelievable. It's nice when your dad can be your friend."

However, their relationship drifted apart. In February, David admitted they were no longer in contact. "I wasn't her father. I was her biological father but I didn't raise her. She has a completely different life," he shared. "[But] I'm proud of her. She's very talented. It's hard for me to even accept how old she is now."

David passed away on Tuesday, November 21, days after it was reported that he had been hospitalized for multiple organ failure. He was 67. His rep JoAnn Geffen said in a statement, "On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years."

David was married and divorced three times. He also has a son, Beau, with his third wife Sue Shifrin.
