AceShowbiz - The full list of nominations for the 49th NAACP Image Awards has been announced. HBO's "Insecure" leads the pack in TV department as it successfully nabs eight nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for star Issa Rae. The series will also compete for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Jay Ellis, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Yvonne Orji, and more.
Tying with "Insecure" with eight nods is OWN's drama series "Queen Sugar". The series is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series as well as earns a nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for star Kofi Siriboe. Actress Rutina Wesley will be up against Kerry Washington ("Scandal"), Jurnee Smollett-Bell ("Underground"), Taraji P. Henson ("Empire") and Viola Davis ("How to Get Away with Murder") for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series.
Trailing behind are "Empire" and "Black-ish" which nab six nominations each. "Black-ish" is nominated in several categories including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Performance by a Youth (Series, Special, Television Movie or Limited Series) and Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series. Meanwhile, "Empire" collects nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for Terrence Howard in addition to Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Bryshere Y. Gray.
Lifetime's "Flint", FOX's "Shots Fired", HBO's "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks", BET's "The New Edition Story" and TV One's "When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story" are all vying for the Outstanding Television Movie, Limited - Series or Dramatic Special title. Meanwhile, Outstanding Talk Series sees "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", "Super Soul Sunday", "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah", "The Real" and "The View" battling against each other.
