AceShowbiz - Universal Pictures has unleashed the official first poster for "Pacific Rim Uprising". The cool artwork features John Boyega as Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba's character in "Pacific Rim", who can be seen dressing in his Jaeger costume. Gypsy Avenger, an upgraded version of Gypsy Danger piloted by Charlie Hunnam's Raleigh Beckett in the first film, is towering behind him.
The studio has also unveiled two more posters for the upcoming sci-fi, action flick. One of the posters shows Scott Eastwood's character who sports his Jaeger pilot armor, too. In the upcoming film, the "Suicide Squad" actor portrays a new character named Nate Lamber, who joins Jake Pentecost to fight against Kaiju monster.
Details on the follow-up to Guillermo del Toto's 2013 flick are still kept under wraps, but we know that it is set ten years after the Battle of the Breach. The oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes when the Kaiju threat returns.
Directed by Steven S. DeKnight from a script written by Derek Connolly and Jon Spaihts, the sequel sees Charlie Day returning as Dr. Newton Geiszler, Rinko Kikuchi back as Mako Mori and Max Martini reprising his role as Herc Hansen. Other cast members include Cailee Spaeny, Adria Arjona, Dustin Clare, Levi Meaden, Mackenyu, Rahart Adams, Jing Tian, Zhang Jin and Wesley Wong.
The film is scheduled to open in theaters across the nation on March 23 next year. The first trailer is expected to debut at this year's New York Comic Con, where the cast and crew will hold a panel, on October 6 at 12 P.M. EST at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
