The actress, who also starred on 'Firefly', is cast as DC Comics character Dr. Leslie Thompkins.

AceShowbiz - Morena Baccarin has booked a trip to "Gotham". The Jessica Brody of Showtime's "Homeland" lands a role as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who in the comic books is a medical confidante of Batman.

On the Batman prequel series, she's a gifted and dedicated physician who was a friend of Thomas and Martha Wayne. She is determined to use her skills to aid Gotham's most in need, which currently means working at the newly opened Arkham Asylum's Home for the Criminally Insane. In addition to her medical skills, her coolness under pressure will serve her well as she finds herself drawn close to James Gordon and into more and more dangerous waters.

The character is dubbed a recurring one and will debut in early 2015 on the show, but there's a possibility that it will become a series regular if the show goes to a second season.

Before starring on "Homeland", Baccarin portrayed Inara Serra on Joss Whedon-created "Firefly", Adria on "Stargate SG-1" and Anna on "V". The "Gotham" gig marks her return to the genre game.
