After five-year portrayal of Selina Kyle, the 19-year-old actress states that she wants to give the character 'as much respect as possible', and calls the 'Westworld' actress 'perfect' for the part.

AceShowbiz - "Gotham" star Camren Bicondova has handed over the Catwoman suit to "Westworld" actress Lili Simmons for the show's upcoming series finale.

The 19-year-old had played a young version of the DC Comics character, aka Selina Kyle, since season one in 2014, but she decided to step away from the role for the end of season five, as the storyline jumps 10 years into the future.

In a lengthy post on social media, Camren explains she didn't feel she could pull off portraying an older incarnation of Kyle onscreen, so she requested producers recast the part for the last ever episode.

"I wanted to give (the character) Selina Kyle as much respect as possible," she shared. "I firmly believe that part of leaving a legacy and being part of a legacy means knowing when to pass the torch to someone else. I was blessed to be the vessel for Selina Kyle for her formative teen years, and it only felt right to give someone else the torch for her adult self."

Camren went on to call Lili "perfect" for the role, and thanked show bosses for granting her the opportunity to become part of DC Comics' legacy.

The series finale of "Gotham", which explores the characters' origin stories, also stars show regulars Benjamin McKenzie as James Gordon and 18-year-old David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne/Batman. It is set to air in the U.S. on Thursday, April 25.
