it offers some escapist imagery, shot beautifully by cinematographer Martin Ahlgren, who captures the Norway landscapes like a postcard. It's easy to disappear into the setting of The Sunlit Night, if only the narrative were as involving
an awkward jump from page to screen, but it's pretty; Jenny Slate gives her best to an underdeveloped role that was likely deeper in the novel by Rebecca Dinerstein, who makes her screenwriting debut with this adaptation
