the performances are uniformly great, the humor is solidly offensive and frequently profane, and the action and effects are appropriately grisly; "Little Monsters" is nearly perfect; a sweet, charming, rude horror comedy that hits all of the right notes
Lupita Nyong'o is downright charming, to the point that you wonder how many more genres she can tackle in the years to come. Her comedic timing is on-point and her knack for action is sublime
it's a delightfully crude, wild ride with a standout performance that continues to prove Lupita Nyong'o can do no wrong, and also serves as a nice reminder of the importance of a great teacher
"Little Monsters" isn't a groundbreaking piece of independent cinema, but it's a raucously funny horror comedy with a little more bubbling beneath its surface than you might expect
"Little Monsters" irreverently builds enough good will and comic energy in the early-going to carry it to its conclusion, so it's bound to gather a cult of some dimension
