with movies experiencing a glaring dearth in quietly human, perceptively satirical comedy, the appearance of "Brad's Status" is something of a breath of fresh air
nothing ever goes deeper than surface anxieties steeped in unjustified fears. The film becomes so self-aware that it's tough to discern whether we should take what's happening seriously or not
Mike White tapped into something special here and his entire cast clearly know it and commit to it all with honesty and hilarity. It's the sort of thing that'll have you giggle for so long, you'll barely notice how moved you are until it's too late
