AceShowbiz - Emma Stone and Oscar-winning director Yorgos Lanthimos are back with another captivating film, "Kinds of Kindness". The actress, who recently earned her second Academy Award for her role in "Poor Things", stars alongside an impressive cast that includes Margaret Qualley, Hunter Schafer, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Joe Alwyn, Hong Chau and Mamoudou Athie.
The teaser for "Kinds of Kindness" was released on Wednesday, March 27 and features an enigmatic 46-second clip that sets the tone for the film. It opens with Stone driving a purple Dodge Challenger, her voice narrating, "This is it... the moment of truth."
Throughout the teaser, enigmatic scenes flash by, set to the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)". Stone's character peels out of a parking lot, stands near the car in a rust-colored pantsuit and sits under moody lighting in a short dress. A wheelchair-ridden woman nearby hints at a possible escape or kidnapping.
Dafoe's range of emotions is evident in the clips, from tortured and pensive to his signature maniacal laughter. Qualley and Plemons portray an eccentrically wealthy couple, while Schafer appears to communicate with an otherworldly entity.
The film's synopsis describes it as a "triptych fable" that follows three interconnected stories. One involves a man struggling for control over his life; another focuses on a policeman whose missing-at-sea wife returns with a mysterious change in demeanor; and the third follows a woman determined to find a special individual destined for spiritual leadership.
Lanthimos and Stone previously collaborated on 2018's "The Favourite" and 2024's "Poor Things", which earned both of them Oscar nominations. They are also reportedly in talks to reunite for a remake of the South Korean film "Save the Green Planet".
"Kinds of Kindness" is set to premiere in select theaters on June 21.
