Pete Davidson on Ending 'Bupkis' Despite Season 2 Renewal: This Chapter Is 'Finished'

The comedian reveals in a statement that he's decided to pull the plug on the semi-autobiographical series, a year after the network renewed it for a second season.

AceShowbiz - Pete Davidson makes a surprising decision regarding his Peacock series "Bupkis". On Thursday, March 21, the comedian revealed that he's decided to pull the plug on the show, a year after the semi-autobiographical series was renewed for a second season.

Of his shocking decision, Pete explained in a statement to Variety, "I've always seen 'Bupkis' as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family." He added, "After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way."

"Of all the work I've ever done, 'Bupkis' is by far what I'm most proud of. I am so grateful to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny and heartfelt," he continued.

The former star of "Saturday Night Live" explained, "I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I'm very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful."

In addition to Pete himself, "Bupkis" starred Edie Falco and Joe Pesci who played Pete's mom Amy Davidson and grandfather Joe Larocca. Premiering on May 4, 2023, the 8-part series saw Pete portraying a version of himself "as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships."

The show also featured some guest stars including La La Anthony, Carly Aquilino, Machine Gun Kelly, Josh Bitton, Preston Brodrick, Steve Buscemi, Bobby Cannavale, Charlamagne Tha God. John Mulaney, Kenan Thompson and Pete's former girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders.
