Another report, meanwhile, reveals that the Princess of Wales' abdominal surgery and hospitalization came as a surprise to her circle as they didn't see anything wrong prior to the procedure.

AceShowbiz - It seems like Kate Middleton's recent health issues aren't light matters. According to a new report, the Princess of Wales' surgery does "sound serious" because it takes almost two weeks for her to recover.

"It does sound serious with the length of time [she's taking]," a source close to the royal family told PEOPLE. The insider, however, assured that the wife of Prince William "is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home and is a fit young woman. I am sure she will bounce back."

Another source, meanwhile, revealed that Kate's abdominal surgery and hospitalization came as a surprise to her circle. Her family friends allegedly didn't see anything wrong with the royal prior to the surgery as she spent the holiday season with her family and royal relatives at their country home, Anmer Hall, weeks before.

The Wales then returned to Windsor's Adelaide Cottage around the New Year to celebrate Kate's 42nd birthday on January 9 privately. Concern started to arise when Kate didn't join William when he returned to resume public duties on January 11. She was set to visit Rome and an overseas military base prior to the procedure.

Kate was admitted to a private London clinic on January 16 for a "planned abdominal surgery." Detailing Kate's condition, a statement from Kensington Palace read, "The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."

"The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private," the statement continued. "Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness' progress when there is significant new information to share."

It concluded, "The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible."
