The hit Netflix sci-fi series is said to be adding some new faces in recurring basis while the casting is currently underway ahead of April filming.

AceShowbiz - The town of Hawkins, Indiana, seemingly will be getting some new residents. A new report suggests that three new characters are heading to the third season of the Netflix hit sci-fi series.

According to The Hashtag Show, casting is currently underway for three roles in recurring basis. The filming is said to be scheduled in April.

The site further provides the descriptions of each character. The first character is Mayor Larry Kline. Pathetic and driven only by his own interests, Kline is described as "a classic, 80's style slick politician." The studio is looking for a male, 40s-60s, to fill the role.

Meanwhile, Bruce is "a morally compromised news reporter in his 50s." The character is further described as "outwardly sexist, overweight and bedraggled."

The last character is named Patricia Brown. A source tells the site that Brown "seems to be filing the role of the sweet, neighborhood elder. The studio is looking for a woman in her 70s for the role which will see her spending a lot of time tending to her garden and offering her advice to the neighborhood kids."

Despite the apparent new faces, fans seemingly don't need to worry as season 2 proved new characters barely had significant impact on the show. The focus of the series remains on the headlining group of Eleven, Dustin, Lucas and Will as well as Chief Jim Hopper.

Previously, there was a rumor claiming the Duffer Brothers would leave the cult series after season 3. However, Netflix quickly shut down the rumor, tweeting, "Don't drop your Eggos. Rumors that the Duffer Bros are leaving 'Stranger Things' after season 3 are false."

The series creators previously teased that season 3 of "Stranger Things" would be weirder and more character-driven. "It's not necessarily going to be bigger in scale. What I am really excited about is giving these characters an interesting journey to go on," Matt Duffer explained. The new season, which was greenlit by the streaming giant in early December last year, was also said to be "something almost weirdly more intimate."

The new season of "Stranger Things" is expected to arrive in 2019 on Netflix.
