'The Taking of Pelham 123': When Two Different Worlds Collide
June 12, 2009 04:06:25This Friday, June 12, "The Taking of Pelham 123", a remake of a 1974 film of the same name, will take over U.S. theaters. Chronicling the hijacking of a subway train, this hostage drama film will present the distinctions between the cleanliness & high tech quality of the MTA and the darkness & grittiness of New York's subway, and so much more.
Promoting the movie through an exclusive featurette from Sony Pictures, director Tony Scott promised that it will be different from any other movies he has ever made. He insisted that this film, which is dubbed by The New York Times as a "canny, energetic updating of the 1974 mass transit thriller", will never let the audience off the hook from the point they hit their theater's seat.

June 05, 2009 03:06:01The Los Angeles premiere of action-thriller movie "The Taking of Pelham 123" on Thursday, June 4 was a star-studded event with its leading actor Denzel Washington in attendance. The Walter Garber depicter was seen smiling to the cameras as he hit the red carpet of the event in white shirt, gray coat and matching pants. He finished off his look with a pair of white sneakers.
Obviously absent from the movie premiere held at Mann's Village Theatre in Westwood, CA was Denzel's co-star John Travolta. "I spoke to him three weeks ago," said Denzel of John, who is still in mourning following the death of his young son Jett Travolta early this year.

Nearly 6 minutes long, the featurette is filled with some tense moments and dramatic scenes from the action thriller as well as commentary from two of the film's leading men, Denzel Washington and John Travolta.
Opened with a scene wherein Travolta's Ryder contacts control center and gets in touch with Washington's Walter Garber, it cuts to a snippet of an interview with Washington in which he explains what kind of man he is portraying. Then, another scene takes over before Travolta is seen sharing his insight on playing baddie. "Playing a bad guy is always a freeing experience - because you don't have the same envelope of restrictions that you have playing a good guy," so he claimed.

Through a brand new trailer of "The Taking of Pelham 123" which debuted via MySpace, it can be seen that Garber played by Denzel Washington is sucked into the bloody game set by criminal mastermind Ryder.
Opened with clips showing a busy day in New York City, the trailer displays a sea of people crowding the street and doing their errands. Then comes John Travolta's Ryder. Making his way to a subway station, he quickly boards a train and hijacks it. The footage moves to Garber in the subway's headquarter.

February 13, 2009 11:02:20Columbia Pictures have presented an intense look into "The Taking of Pelham 123" through the thriller's trailer. Said to be released in theaters on February 13 attached to "The International", the trailer courtesy of Yahoo! firstly serves as an introduction to Denzel Washington's character Walter Garber, what he does for a living and his ordinary days at work.
The video footage then cuts to present criminal mastermind Ryder, who is portrayed by John Travolta. Walking into a crowded subway station, Ryder quickly points his gun at Pelham 123's train operator and takes over the train. Soon after, he reveals to Garber that in exchange for the passengers he takes as hostages, he wants a large ransom that has to be paid within one hour. Under pressure to save the hostages, Garber uses his vast knowledge of the subway system in a battle to outwit Ryder.

John Travolta Ready to Face Denzel Washington in Pelham 123
October 26, 2007 12:10:32Set to take his first action role in years, John Travolta is currently in negotiations for a starring part in "Taking of Pelham 123", Columbia Pictures' remake of the 1974 feature, Variety has reported.
Travolta, who is said to get heavily courted by director Tony Scott to join the project, is likely to play the leader of a quartet that hijacks a New York subway train should deals are made. The actor last played the figurative heavy in 2004's "The Punisher" opposite Thomas Jane.
