Michel Gondry to "Believe"?
July 07, 2007 10:07:00Words on Tim Burton leaving Paramount Pictures’ "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" have not yet been officially confirmed yet talks on new helmer to handle the project have already surfaced by now if looking from report brought by FilmIck.co.uk.
According to the site, French filmmaker Michel Gondry is currently in talks to take over the position from Burton. If deals are indeed secured, pic thereby will mark reunion between the man and Jim Carrey for the first time since the acclaimed "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004).

June 19, 2007 04:06:32Trouble appears to still afflict "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" despite its progress to come up to the surface under Paramount Pictures banner.
Previously got Tim Burton attached as director, the flick is suspected to lose the famed filmmaker as Paramount may be in search for a new helmer for the revived project, ComingSoon.net has learned. It is unclear yet whether this will bring any change to the planned production schedule, which has already been set to begin in winter 2008.

Paramount Pictures has decided to bring back the project to development and appointed "Bruce Almighty" scribe Steve Oedekerk to make a re-writing of the project's script previously penned by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.
Eyeing a winter 2008 production start in China for a 2009 release, the flick delightfully still sees Jim Carrey and Tim Burton remain in place as the lead star and the director, respectively, with Kenneth Atchity, Jim Jacks, Sean Daniel, and Richard D. Zanuck producing.

"Believe It or Not!" Has Been Put on Hold
June 14, 2006 11:06:56Sad to say that the working on Tim Burton and Jim Carrey's film project "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" has been put on hold. Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey has sent the film, based on the adventures of newspaperman and oddities collector Robert Ripley, back to the drawing board due to its swelling budget, according to trade reports.
The film, starring Carrey as Ripley, had been scheduled to begin production in November later this year, but has now been pushed back indefinitely after its budget came in over $150 million.

Carrey & Burton Work on "Believe It or Not!"

Jim Carrey will in the near future team up with Tim Burton to work on the upcoming action adventure "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" which is based on the exploits of Robert Ripley, the explorer and newspaper columnist who created "Ripley's Believe It or Not."
While Carrey is set to star in, Burton is in hand to direct the flick for Paramount Pictures. And as the studio expects to begin the film production in London in October for a late 2007 release, Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander are both responsible to write the script.
