'Prince of Persia' Won't Feature Sand Monsters
November 05, 2009 04:11:38Giving first looks at the magical dagger, Jake Gyllenhaal's Dastan, Gemma Arterton's Tamina and the action-packed adventure they are in, the newly-released official trailer for "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" also showed a lack of demonic creatures. In an interview with IGN, creator Jordan Mechner confirmed that "there are no sand monsters in the movie."
"For the game, turning everybody in the world into sand monsters was really useful because it created an inexhaustible supply of enemies," the screenwriter explained on the reason why. "But that's a story that's meant to be played with a controller in your hand, and a movie is meant to be shared by an audience. So we didn't want to make a movie about fighting monsters."

At the time, the site confirmed representatives on the site claimed that "while the film was shot in 2-D, a post process will be applied to allow for 3-D presentations."
