'Monsters vs. Aliens 2' Not Happening
October 29, 2009 01:10:02There will be no "Monsters vs. Aliens 2" being brought to the big screen. Los Angeles Times recently reported that DreamWorks Animation has disclosed that the studio won't move forward with the idea of developing a sequel to 2009's "Monsters vs. Aliens" given that the movie underperformed in some key international markets.
According to LA Times, DreamWork's Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg told analysts of the decision in a conference call. "I'd like to tell you there's a perfectly rational, clear and easy answer as to why not, but there isn't," he said. "There was enough of a consensus from our distribution and marketing folks in certain parts of the world that we would be pushing a boulder up a hill."

'Monsters vs. Aliens' Scares Up Big Bucks at North American Box Office
March 30, 2009 10:03:19"Monsters vs. Aliens" has conquered the North American box office over the March 27 - 29 weekend. Collecting $59.3 million after three days of screening, the 3-D animation movie from directors Rob Letterman and Conrad Vernon has beaten out another newcomer "The Haunting in Connecticut" and taken the champion crown away from "Knowing".
The weekend bow pulled in by this DreamWorks Animation movie topped "Watchmen" first weekend earning of $55.2 million, marking it to become the year's biggest debut so far. The film has also landed itself on the third place for the best March opening ever, following behind "300" and "Ice Age: The Meltdown", and on the runner-up position for DreamWorks Animation film's best opening after "Kung Fu Panda".

Blue Carpet Treatment for 'Monsters vs. Aliens' L.A. Premiere
March 23, 2009 10:03:04Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California has become the host of "Monsters vs. Aliens" Los Angeles premiere on Sunday morning, March 22. Celebrating the special screening event, DreamWorks Animation greeted the celebrities with a unique blue carpet and a man-high statue of B.O.B., one of the monsters in the movie.

'Monsters vs. Aliens' to Bring First 3-D Trailer to Super Bowl, Promo Video Released
January 05, 2009 02:01:23"Monsters vs. Aliens" will take participation in Super Bowl XLIII on February 1 as claimed through the latest promotional video of the animated movie. During the Colts and Chargers playoff game, a Super Bowl promo video for new "Monsters vs. Aliens" trailer has been shown, revealing that the trailer will be aired using 3-D technology.
The sneak preview to the comedy animation will last about 90 seconds and marks the first time a 3-D telecast has been done for such a large audience. Additionally, it is reported that some 150 million 3-D glasses, which use the new Intel InTru 3D and ColorCode 3-D, will be given away at Pepsi/ SoBe Life Water displays in retail outlets. Jeffrey Katzenberg, the chief executive of DreamWorks Animation, called the stunt "perhaps the biggest media-advertising event in history."

Ginormica's Origin Explored in New Trailer of 'Monsters vs. Aliens'
December 24, 2008 08:12:39A brand new trailer of "Monsters vs. Aliens" has been released. Giving out more footage as well as story to the comic animation than the previous one, this new trailer chronicles when and how Susan Murphy grows to 49 feet, 11 inches tall and becomes the "monster" called as Ginormica. The video also teases the time she is first introduced to the other monsters captured by the government.
Beside focusing on Ginormica, this trailer also shows how the clueless and wacky monsters are sent to stop an alien from invading the Earth. Providing a deeper look into some of the monsters, like the time the jellylike B.O.B. flirts with a jello, the end-half of the promo video captures some of the scenes in which the monsters are fighting the alien.

March 11, 2008 03:03:19The depicter of June Carter Cash in "Walk the Line" Reese Witherspoon is going to be Ginormica in animated film "Monsters vs. Aliens". According to USA Today, the actress will be voicing Susan Murphy whose life changes as she becomes a gigantic woman after being hit by a meteor.
On agreeing to lend her voice, the former wife of actor Ryan Phillippe said that she was impressed with the animation storyboard stating, "I got very inspired when the studio showed me storyboards." Further, commenting on her gigantic character, the 5'2" actress jokingly said, "Playing a larger-than-life woman has given me my own opportunity to make tall jokes."
