Movie Story
"Management" is a romantic comedy that chronicles a chance meeting between Mike Cranshaw (Steve Zahn) and Sue Claussen (Jennifer Aniston). When Sue checks into the roadside motel owned by Mike's parents in Arizona, what starts with a bottle of wine "compliments of management" soon evolves into a multi-layered, cross-country journey of two people looking for a sense of purpose. Mike, an aimless dreamer, bets it all on a trip to Sue's workplace in Maryland - only to find that she has no place for him in her carefully ordered life. Buttoned down and obsessed with making a difference in the world, Sue goes back to her yogurt mogul ex-boyfriend Jango (Woody Harrelson), who promises her a chance to head his charity operations. But having found something worth fighting for, Mike pits his hopes against Sue's practicality, and the two embark on a twisted, bumpy, freeing journey to discover that their place in the world just might be together.

posted by Management on May 23, 2009Sweet, funny, endearing performances by the entire cast. Surprised how much it affected me in its final half-hour. More thought-provoking than you would expect from the first part, which is enjoyable rom/com (romantic comedy). If you like romantic comedies that take surprise turns and deliver both laughs and moments of reflection on your own life, see this one.

It's not for everyone, I guess--judging from the negative reviews. It's not surprising--people think they seem smarter when they say bad things about a movie even when it's good. It's a movie. It's a story. It's about love. Deal with it. There's nothing wrong about admitting to guilty pleasures like this one. I don't mind watching this again.

Apart from Steve Zahn playing a very convincing retard (Wait; he wasn't playing someone with down syndrome?), the flow of the movie is jolted and forced. In the end the viewer is left confused at how this could ever make Hollywood. This is the worst movie I've seen to get such great reviews.
