'Lakeview Terrace' Scores No. 1 Easily at Quiet Weekend

Drama thriller "" sits at number 1 this weekend at the box office after scoring $15 million, another number that fails to break through the $20 million mark after "" earlier this month. The film starring that has a budget of $20 million, is Sony Pictures' second opening at #1 this year.

Taking the second spot is last week's champion "" that scored another $11 million for a total of $36.1 million. Third and fourth slots meanwhile, are filled by newcomers "" and "" respectively. The former took in a disappointing $8.3 million while the latter absorbed slightly less than that at $7.8 million.

Knife Scene Cut Out From 'Lakeview Terrace'

A gripping scene involving , Kerry Washington and a knife has apparently been eliminated from the up-and-coming drama thriller "". Report on the matter claimed that the particular footage has been put aside because Washington's character who supposedly should be the sane one looks like she is losing her mind.

Confirming the matter, the "" actress opened up about the scene where she threatens Jackson's character with a knife. "It got removed," gushed the 31-year-old. "Samuel L. Jackson follows me back into my house and I seduce him to the point where he is drawn in and then I threaten his life with a knife."

Aside from "" teaser trailer which came out on the web earlier, Screen Gems apparently got another feature film trailer on their sleeves. Following the outing of "Quarantine" teaser, the studio has debuted the trailer to their upcoming drama thriller starring , "", which lasts nearly two and a half minutes.

The trailer begins with a shot of a peaceful neighborhood and a young man unloading stuffs from the back of his truck to be brought in to his new house. The footage then reveals that the man is married to a black woman. As the video footage continues, it can be seen that the interracial couple get an increasing harassment from their neighbor who doesn't approve the interracial marriage and decide to fight back. But, their struggle to get away from the neighbor leads to a big deal.

Aiming to complete names involved in its thriller project of "", Screen Gems is reportedly holding negotiations with and Neil LaBute to star in and direct the flick, respectively.

Already has both and Kerry Washington submitted into the cast, the flick concerns an interracial couple who comes into their nightmare upon moving into a home next to a racist LAPD officer, played by Jackson. Kutcher will likely be billed as the male half of the couple, if everything goes as expected.

Picking up two Hollywood's household names for its thriller project "", Screen Gems has successfully got and Kerry Washington onboard to be the leadstars of the flick.

Set to begin production in May, the picture centers on an interracial couple who faces nightmare in their life when they move into a new home next to a tightly wound, racist LAPD officer. Scribe David Loughery is also executive producing alongside Jeff Graup with Overbrook Entertainment partners James Lassiter and producing.
