Studios Producing "Ghost Rider" Movie Sued by Creator

The success of "Ghost Rider" in collecting a respectable income of $114.8 million so far gets tainted as the studios producing the superhero flick now has to face a legal action from Gary Friedrich, creator of the comic book series the film is based on.

The Missouri-born writer was reported to place a lawsuit on April 4, 2007 in an Illinois federal court against Marvel Enterprises, Sony Pictures, and several other entities he deems responsible for ripping off his copyright on their way in making the movie. Considering the film to be a "joint venture and conspiracy to exploit, profit from and utilize", the man alleges that twenty-one violations were made during its production and marketing.

The superhero flick smoothly paves its way to collect another $16.9 million from 43 markets, lifting its foreign gross to $40.1 million to date. Making good contribution to the number are results from Germany and France which see the movie successfully pull $2.3 million and $3 million, respectively.

The race appears to have the same champ this time as supernatural hero flick "Ghost Rider" takes the checkered flag in its second round on the weekend box-office competition ended February 25, 2007 after successfully pulling $20 million into its pocket.

Placed second on the list is newcomer "The Number 23" which makes its way to collect $14.6 million in its debut to thereby push last-week's runner up "Bridge to Terabithia" one notch below at number three as the fantasy feat scores slightly lesser at $14.1 million.

The hot flame of "Ghost Rider" has blazed brightly to burn all blocking its way on the box office. Soaring high in its debut, the superhero flick triumphantly claims the No.1 spot on the chart, drawing in a fantastic amount of $45.3 million, way far above the $22.5 million its fellow newcomer "Bridge to Terabithia" has collected during weekend ended February 18, 2007.

Though severely beaten, the Disney production, however, proves to strike harder than last-week's top film "Norbit" as the larger-than-life comedy only manages to put another $16.7 million into its pocket to seat on the third place in its second round in the competition.

Optimistic on the potentiality of "Ghost Rider" to create success in the market, producer Avi Arad has delivered delightful news for the fans of the superhero flick to cheer at. The man has announced at a press-event for the upcoming picture that that a sequel to the movie is now being in talks to be developed.

Joined by "Rider" director Mark Steven Johnson and producer Gary Foster, Arad also hinted that Nicolas Cage would once again be tipped to reprise his role as the titular character aka Johnny Blaze.

Making a better version of "Ghost Rider" official website, Sony Pictures has re-launched the film's site, www.sonypictures.com/movies/ghostrider, with a number of additional features which include character bios, trailers, wallpapers, screensavers, synopsis, and two online games.

Scheduled to open in theaters on February 16, 2007, the picture is an adaptation of Marvel's comic book of the same title and presents a stellar cast consisting of Nicolas Cage as the titular character, Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley, and Jon Voight among others.

this is an awesome movie i dont care what anyone says its awesome.ive watched about 50 times so far and plan to watch it more.
