'Prince Caspian' Dethroned 'Iron Man' From Box Office Reign
May 19, 2008 09:05:23In the movie, Prince Caspian sets his eyes to stop the evil ruler of the Telmarines from destroying his beloved land and to claim his right for Narnia's throne. With the help of the previous legendary Narnia's rulers, the Pevensie siblings, it seems that the job will be a pretty easy one. However, in the box office, a not-so-easy task lays ahead. To land atop the revenue chart, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" has to face off with back-to-back topper "Iron Man". Still, the adventure movie managed to debut on top and forced the man suited in armor suit to pass up the box office crown.
Considered to be a better challenger to the Robert Downey Jr.-starrer action film than "Speed Racer", the Disney's sequel film to "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" proved to have a strong line of fanatics when it managed to end the domination of the Marvel Entertainment's superhero tidbit. The Andrew Adamson's family movie opened number one on the box office chart pulling in approximately $56.6 million from the 3,929 theaters it was screened. It scored around twenty million more than "Iron Man" which slipped to the second place in its third weekend grossing an estimated $31.2 million.

Can 'Prince Caspian' Claim the Box Office Throne?
May 14, 2008 01:05:59When the first Narnia's movie adaptation was first introduced to the public through "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", it got a great welcome from moviegoers everywhere around the world. Opening atop at the Box Office on its first weekend screening with $65.6 million, the fantasy film went on to haul the total of $291.7 million domestically and an impressive $744.8 million from the international sales. Now, a second Narnia film is about to make another attempt in enchanting audience and thus, an important question arises, that is can it surpass the success of the first movie.
If observed merely through the singing praises given by the movie critics so far, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" would not have any problem in acquiring the same success the first film got back in 2005. Noting that this film can hardly be considered as a sequel, many commented that it is ready to present the moviegoers with a better looking movie if compared to the first film. Christy Lemire of Associated Press wrote on her review, "It's simultaneously darker and funnier, more substantive and more engaging, more violent and more technically accomplished." Additionally, Todd McCarthy of Variety also thinks that "Caspian" is "more crisply made than its 2005 predecessor", whereas Michael Rechtshaffen of Hollywood Reporter noted that the film is worthy to be watched film, especially for the "gorgeous special effects and grand-scale battle sequences".

December 28, 2007 04:12:58As the year 2007 is closing up, AceShowbiz.com feels obliged to list movie sequels that will battle among themselves towards the box office. Again, awaiting for the second movie from the Chronicles of Narnia has certainly been well worth the wait and seeing! An absolutely mindblowing special effects, another exciting long story and unbelievable epic voyage of proportion. I cannot wait for the third instalment - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Though, I am a little confused as to why the trilogy has not followed pursuit alike the seven novels: The Boy and His Horse, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Magicians Nephew, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle. I want to see Prince Caspian again; Outstanding scenery taken in New Zealand and acting from the Pesvensie children.
