To bring to life his concern, he announced Thursday he will headline 'Project Restart,' a benefit concert for the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Says Usher, "When I thought about what I could do to help, I decided that I wanted to do something direct and personal for the evacuees." In the benefit concert, to be held October 9 in Atlanta, GA at Philips Arena, the R&B singer will perform several songs with some of his celebrity friends to make special guest appearances. Showing his deep concern toward the matter, Usher even dropped by for the first day of Camp New Look, an Atlanta program he recently started for minority youth in his home city. The two weeks project, aimed at honoring prodigies' specialties and learning about the respective industries, was held at Clark Atlanta University and joined by 150 campers aged 8 to 18.
Usher Is in Negotiations for "Dreamgirls"

Five days ago, his mother Jonnetta Patton insisted that he not yet confirmed his going to star in the musical "Dreamgirls." Now the R&B star, Usher, has turned his way around, confirming he is in negotiation to star in the musical new movie version.
If the star would later get the deal, he is expected to play choreographer CC White alongside Jamie Foxx and Beyonce Knowles, to play Deena Jones, the leader of a trio of female soul singers who cross over to the pop charts during the early 1960s. Also set to play in the movie is Eddie Murphy, who will play James 'Thunder' Early, a fictional cross between James Brown and Marvin Gaye.
