Blige will not take the stage at the highly anticipated tribute concert for Michael Jackson, which is planned to be held at Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna on date 26 later this month. Confirming the matter is the R 'n' B singer herself who told MTV News on Thursday, September 10, she won't be able to make it to the affair due to scheduling conflict as she will have to fulfill a contractual obligation in Milan on the same day.
"There's a lot going on at the time - I'm really, really sorry that I'm not gonna be able to be there," Blige said in a statement. " 'Cause why wouldn't I want to do a tribute to Michael Jackson?"

Mary J. Blige has decided to pull 'Just Fine' as the first single from her upcoming album 'Growing Pains', due November 27. The uptempo track is produced by Jazze Pha and Christopher 'Tricky' Stewart, the latter being responsible for Rihanna's smash hit 'Umbrella'.
Mary's album was due to release on November 20, but it has been pushed back a week later. Little is known about the CD currently, but it has been known that renown producers like Brian Michael Cox, Sean Garrett and Rodney Jekins will contribute to the album. Cox and Mary won a Grammy this year for the track 'Be Without You'.

The queen of R&B, Mary J. Blige will soon release a new album tentatively called 'Growing Pains'. As listed on USAToday.com, the Geffen album will be released on November 20, the same day Mariah Carey will drop her equally anticipated album.
So far the only information known about Blige's album is the possibility of a track called 'Grown Woman Complex'. A snippet of the song was played on August 5 at the end of HBO TV series 'Entourage' where she also appeared as a guest star. Some sources said that the song will feature Jay-Z on the album version and produced by Chicago native Dejion.

While the US pop album chart surprisingly is topped by a new winner, the Billboard Hot 100 also does so. The singles chart is reigned by reggae star Sean Paul whose album "Temperature" goes up one place to the top spot, ended Ne-Yo's two-week reign on the chart as his "So Sick" falls to No. 3. Meanwhile, Canadian singer/songwriter Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" successfully lands on the 2nd place after rising three places from last week's position.
James Blunt's former chart-topper "You're Beautiful" and Mary J. Blige's "Be Without You" each slips one to No. 4 and No. 5 in a row. Meanwhile, the soundtrack to the Disney Channel movie "High School Musical" by various artists slipped to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 128,000 copies, after one week at the top.
Sat at No. 3 was rock quintet Hawthorne Heights's "If Only You Were Lonely" which sold another 114,000 copies. Alan Jackson's "Precious Memories" was back on the Billboard 200 debuted at No. 4 with 107,000 copies, ahead of R&B singer Mary J. J. Blige to Live up the 2006 Essence Music Fest
December 23, 2005 10:12:34Organizers of the annual Essence Music Festival has on Monday announced the name of Mary J. Blige as one of the performers set to perform at its 2006 event. The gala, sponsored by Essence magazine, supposedly to be held in the Superdome in New Orleans just the way it used to be since the year of 1995.
Yet, it is temporarily moved to Houston as New Orleans continues to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. The 2006 festival will be held July 1-3 at Houston's Reliant Park and will feature several concerts, a marketplace and empowerment seminars as well. Proceeds from the event will be aimed at helping victims of Katrina. Also the organizers said that other performers would be announced in coming weeks.
Mary J. Blige to Make Her Feature Starring Debut
December 06, 2005 11:12:38R&B singer Mary J. Blige will in the coming days have another new project to finish as she gives her hand at acting. Blige is set to star in an as-yet-untitled biopic that will focus on the rise of late, legendary jazz/soul singer Nina Simone. This then will be her first starring role in a film.
The film, an MTV Films/ Paramount Pictures project, will chronicle Simone's ascent to stardom and her relationship with Paris-based manager Clifton Henderson. The film reportedly will be produced by Interscope Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine along with Lauren Lloyd, Gene Kirkwood and Paul Rosenberg. A director has not been named, but television writer Cynthia Mort will pen the screenplay.
Hip Hoper LL Cool J Works on New Album

The Def Jam set is the follow-up to his 2004's "The DEFinition," which debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 743,000 copies in the United States. The as yet titled album will feature guest appearances from Mary J. Blige, 112 and Teairra Mari.
In addition to working on the album, LL Cool J also has signed a nine-picture deal with Lions Gate Film to produce movies, and also has the option of acting in the projects. He will next be seen in "Last Holiday" alongside Queen Latifah, and also appears in "Edison," which stars Justin Timberlake and Morgan Freeman.
