December 03, 2009 02:12:23That Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will both appear on the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars" is not yet known but at least it is now confirmed that their personal drama doesn't have an effect on the casting. The professional dancers broke their engagement earlier this year and it became apparent that it did not end well.
A column at Pop Eater reported that it got too ugly between Maks and Karina that the producers of the dancing show were forced to pick between the two for season 10. Maks allegedly would retract if he is to dance with Karina. "All the feathers and sequins in the world wouldn't be able to cover the bad feeling between those two," a source said.

During the 2009 MTV Los Premios Awards in Los Angeles recently, he opened up to Hollyscoop, "I know what is not my type of girl at this point ... somebody who is not career oriented only."
"I want the best of both worlds, I'm career oriented person but I want family and I want to be a teammate with my significant other," he added. Now that he is back on the market, he told Hollyscoop, "I'm single and I'm happy."
Maksim Chmerkovskiy Replacing Derek Hough on 'DWTS'

Derek made the announcement through his Twitter whilst updating his health condition, writing "At the docs for 3 hrs today ... Had a temprature of 104 ... Had an IV in my arm for 2hrs ... Maks is steppin up for me helpin jo."
Derek and Joanna Krupa were one of the highest scorer pairs this week with the Lambada. They got 26 out of 30 from the judges and were pronounced safe for another week. During the particular routine, Derek indeed took his shirt off, a move which he weighed in afterwards. "Maybe I should have kept my shirt on," he wrote.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Karina Smirnoff: 'I Feel Completely Betrayed'

They initially planned a June 2010 wedding, but in September Karina had her representative announcing their separation. Reason behind the break-up was not disclosed though.
