Madina Lake Biography

news-detailsA Post-hardcore/alternative rock band, Madina Lake were formed in Chicago, Illinois in 2005. Before joining the band, vocalist Nathan Leone and bass guitarist Matthew Leone were in a band known as The Blank Theory. The other members, guitarist Mateo Camargo and drummer Dan Torelli, meanwhile were in another band called Reforma. Because they were unhappy with the situation in The Blank Theory and Reforma, the four of them, who were friends to each other, decided to walk out. They then created their own band, Madina Lake.

This band recorded a mini album called "The Disappearance of Adalia" and used their own money to pay for the recording process of the EP. Dropping it in 2006, they also entered studio for a full length record "From Them, Through Us, to You" in which they poured their life experiences. Several hit singles lifted from the band's first album were "House of Cards" and "Here I Stand".

"The first record was us exploring," so Matthew commented. "With more life and experience under our belts, discovering who we are as individuals and as a group, we made the record that fits who we are now. Every artist and musician, it takes them a minute. We took that time, we toured, and now, we know who we are and that's the record we made."

The band's first major tour in the U.S. came in 2007 when they were signed as Linkin Park's tourmates in the Chester Bennington-fronted band's Projekt Revolution roadshow. They also hit the road alongside My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Paramore, Gym Class Heroes and many more. Greater than that, they were billed as one of the performers in 2009 Warped Tour.

As a follow up to their first effort, Madina Lake returned to studio and made new music for their second album "Attics to Eden". With this new record, they brought out more mature music. About the meaning of the album's title, Nathan said, "The record's title is 'Attics to Eden' because, lyrically, most of the tracks explore different ways to find psychological refuge in a world that is moving faster than ever. It also serves as the second installment in the story of Madina Lake." They release the record in America on May 5, 2009.
