Gwen Stefani Selected to Redesign Dorothy's Ruby Red Shoes from 'The Wizard of Oz'
July 18, 2008 10:07:44Singer turned fashion designer Gwen Stefani has been selected as one among the 19 top shoe designers to use her expertise to redesign Dorothy's infamous ruby red shoes from the timeless classic film "The Wizard of Oz". Supported by Swarovski, Gwen, under her L.A.M.B label, will create her own version of the ruby slippers to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the family film epic next year.
Other prestigious shoe designers who are taking part in the project include; Alberta Ferretti, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta and Roger Vivier. All the shoe style gurus will display their designs at the Saks Fifth Avenue department store on September 4 later this year.

No Doubt Officialy Recording in Studio for New Album

It has been more than seven years since they last released an album together with the latest being the 2001 "Rock Steady". Gwen has since released two studio albums "Love.Angel.Music.Baby." and "The Sweet Escape" but the band never ruled out reunion. With numerous songs bubbling over the edge and waiting to be worked up, No Doubt get on full gear for a new album this year. Starting from next week, the band that went to hiatus in 2004 will enter the studio to accumulate new materials minus lead singer Gwen Stefani.
"The three of us are going to lay down some songs with music only," said drummer Adrian Young in understanding to Gwen Stefani's hectic solo schedule. "When she gets done with the tour we'll all be able to do it. We've probably got four albums worth of ideas demoed. We've been together since 1987 and we never took a break until three summers ago. Now the break's been pretty long, so I think we're not burning anymore. It's kind of nice to be hungry again."

On Thursday, March 1, New York rapper MIMS has topped Billboard 100 with the song "This Is Why I'm Hot" after leaping as great as 31 positions straight ahead to no.1. The leap is recorded as the third biggest in the chart's history as well as scoring the first #1 single for its label, the Capitol Records. The song has also created quite a stir in numerous radio stations with a total spins up to 1000 per week and absorbed a growing 59 million listeners.

From singing to designing clothes, two very different careers, the eccentric singer is now planning to release a movie that will have herself starring in. No doubt, she really really has the art in her flesh that runs trough her blood.
Is keen to turn her talents to acting, Gwen insists the project is still in early days, about which she reveals "I would love to do another movie, like to have a real role." "I have something I'm developing right now, but with films there's so many people involved and it costs so much, and there's so much at risk; I don't like to talk about it. (…) When it's coming out I'll talk about it," so she adds.

This is the second time that their single is number one, while the album attainment automatically pushes Robbie Williams' "Intensive Care" off the top spot to No. 2 as Rod Stewart's "Thanks for the Memory -- Great American Songbook Vol. 4" entering the charts at No. 3.

January 14, 2005 09:01:05Gewn Stefani's red vinyl dress she wore for her band, No Doubt's, first hit album was stolen from Tuesday afternoon exhibition dedicated to the history of rock music in Orange County held in Fullerton Museum Center.
The police investigation suspected two young women, who at the time the gown missing, were seen to stand near the mannequin used to display Gwen's up to $5000 dress. But, the police haven't arrested anyone yet. On the other hand, Gwen's record company, Interscope, said that the dress could "secretly and savely" be returned at a drop box at the museum or at Rebel Waltz Inc., office, the Laguna Beach company that manages No Doubt.
