Boyzone to Release Tribute Album for Stephen Gately
November 02, 2009 02:11:47In the wake of Stephen Gately's sudden death on October 10, his bandmates in Boyzone plan to record a tribute album for him. "We have decided that what we do now is we're going to make the next album for Stephen," Ronan Keating recently opened up.
"We want to stick together because we find comfort in being together at the moment," he continued. "We have a couple of songs with Stephen's vocal on it so that's a saving grace. Thank God we have that, that's very important to all of us and we know the fans would really appreciate that too."
Family and Friends Attend Private Vigil for Stephen Gately

His Boyzone bandmates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lynch were spotted among the mourners, which also included Stephen's parents and siblings.
Ronan, Keith, Mikey, and Shane were photographed carrying Stephen's coffin into St Laurence O'Toole church for private viewing. "About 300 local people and fans lined streets near St Laurence O'Toole Church paying their own tribute to the West End star with a gentle applause," Daily Mail reported.
Stephen Gately's Boyzone Bandmates Confirm Funeral Plans

"Yesterday, Stephen's body was released by Spanish authorities following an autopsy that confirmed Stephen had died from natural causes. He is now lying in a chapel of rest in a small village in the hills of Majorca whilst repatriation formalities continue," read the message.
Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lynch "visited Stephen's parents in Dublin on Tuesday to pay their respects and confirm the family's final wishes for Stephen. The Boyz plan to return to Majorca on Friday (Oct. 16) to bring their brother back home to Dublin," it continued. "There will be a private family mass in Dublin on Friday night followed by a funeral service at St Lawrence O'Toole church on Saturday at midday."

"The singer of the British group Boyzone died from natural causes, owing to an 'acute pulmonary edema'," the court statement said. "The autopsy carried out this morning showed there were no signs of violence to the body."
The preliminary findings of the post-mortem would be sent to a laboratory in Barcelona for further analysis. And should there is no contradiction with the autopsy result, the investigation would be closed. Along with the confirmation, it is reported that Stephen's remains could now be flown home to his native Ireland.

Before calling the curtain down, Irish boy band Boyzone will have one last tour. The news is coming from member Stephen Gately who remembers the band's "promise".
Gately said, "We always promised the fans a farewell tour and we're hoping that will take place next year. It's really a case of working out when the five of us can get on stage at the same time. Take That certainly did well out of a reunion tour."

Stephen Gately, the former singer of boyband Boyzone, has married long-term partner Andy Cowles Sunday March 19th, 2006 in London. The 30-year-old singer had made an official commitment to Cowles, an Internet entrepreneur, three years ago in Las Vegas.
The private civil partnership ceremony was held at the Goring Hotel and attended by fellow Boyzone stars Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch. Sadly, the band's ex-manager Louis Walsh was unable to attend the ceremony because of illness. Sir Elton John who supposedly was among the guests did not attend as well.

January 10, 2006 09:01:53Maybe envying the success of the just comeback Take That, teen pop phenomenon Boyzone reportedly is planning a comeback to the music scene. Stephen Gateley, in fact, has confirmed the report saying that his band does planning to reunite but without frontman Ronan Keating.
"I don't know whether there will be another record. Probably, I'd like there to be. Probably Ronan won't be involved. But the other four of us had dinner and discussions about what we could do in the future," Stephen said, while explaining "There's still a huge fan base and we just had a re-released album out and it went to number six in the UK, even without any promotion."
