Confirmed, Amy Poehler Guest Stars on 'Saturday Night Live'
July 31, 2009 02:07:03Amy Poehler is giving a favor to the show that catapulted her to stardom. The Emmy nominee is going to guest star in two episodes of "Saturday Night Live" the Weekend Update segment on Thursday, September 17 and 24. Poehler therefore will reunite with her "SNL" partner Seth Meyers who is still behind the anchor desk after she left the end of last year.
This move is also intended to be a good lead-in to promote Poehler's NBC show "Parks and Recreation". The half-hour comedy has been renewed for a second season and will premiere on September 17 at 8.30/7.30c. In the show, she is starring as Leslie Knope, a mid-level bureaucrat working in Pawnee, Indiana's Parks and Recreation Department.
Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron Nominated for Choice Male Hottie Teen Choice Award

Both movie heartthrobs vie for the category with fellow actors that include Chace Crawford, Jonas Brothers, and Taylor Kitsch.
Zac and the Jonas boys, additionally, are nominated for Choice Red Carpet Icon: Male. Their competitors for the gong include "American Idol" season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert, Justin Timberlake, and Kanye West.

Having collected the most counts at the awards' nominations with seven nods, the romantic vampire drama has scored the most kudos at the gala ceremony held on Sunday, May 31. It landed five out of the seven nominations and scored the top honor, the Best Movie title.
Securing the Best Movie kudo, "Twilight" threw off strong competitors, "The Dark Knight", "High School Musical 3: Senior Year", "Iron Man" and "Slumdog Millionaire". Aside from winning Best Movie, the Catherine Hardwicke-directed movie also hauled in kudos for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Each of them was hailed Best Female Performance and Breakthrough Performance Male respectively. The two leading actors also shared the Best Kiss prize.

May 05, 2009 09:05:11With fans taking charge to select the nominees of 2009 MTV Movie Awards, "Twilight" came up topping the nomination field as MTV unveiled its contending films on Monday, May 4. The Catherine Hardwicke-directed vampire drama scored seven nods from the eleven categories available, nabbing Best Movie gong as well as placing two of its actors, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in Breakthrough Performance Male.
Those two categories aside, "Twilight" also garnered a Best Female Performance nomination for leading actress Kristen Stewart. It also earned the chances to win the golden popcorn for Best Fight (Robert Pattinson vs. Cam Gigandet); for Best Kiss (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson); and for a new category, Best Song From a Movie (Paramore's "Decode").

Blue Carpet Treatment for 'Monsters vs. Aliens' L.A. Premiere

Celebrating the special screening event, DreamWorks Animation greeted the celebrities with a unique blue carpet and a man-high statue of B.O.B., one of the monsters in the movie.
Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Kiefer Sutherland, Rainn Wilson, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler were among the film's voice talents attending the premiere. Joining them on the blue carpet were producer Lisa Stewart and directors, Rob Letterman and Conrad Vernon.
'Public Service', Title to Amy Poehler's New Comedy
January 27, 2009 10:01:41Finally, the untitled Amy Poehler's project is given a working title. "Public Service", the new sitcom coming from the creators of "The Office" and "Saturday Night Live", will premiere April 9 at 8.30/7.30c on NBC.
The show was supposed to be effective after Super Bowl XLIII on February 1 but Poehler got pregnant and delivered her baby in October last year, which require her to adjust. In the show which is also starring Aziz Ansari and Rashida Jones of "The Office", Poehler will be a mid-level government official named Leslie Knope.

Through a press release outed on Friday, December 19, Golden Globes-nominee Jennifer Lopez and Academy Awards-nominee Salma Hayek are named among those who will give away the golden statuettes.
In addition to the two A-listers, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has also appointed comedians, Amy Poehler and Seth Rogen, to do the job as well. All four of them will be joining the previously-announced presenters that include Simon Baker, Drew Barrymore and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Her final episode on the variety show, was cracked first with her appearance alongside fellow "Weekend Update" host, Seth Myers, in a skit of "Really?! With Seth and Amy".
Several other "SNL" stars also came by the studio to have some sketches, including Maya Rudolph who did a "Bronx Beat" with Poehler and Fred Armisen who appeared in the middle of Poehler's skit as the visually-impaired New York Government, David Patterson. The episode was hosted by "House M.D." star Hugh Laurie and featured a musical performance by Kanye West.

October 27, 2008 09:10:06"Saturday Night Live" cast member Amy Poehler gave birth to a baby boy just hours before she was to appear on the show. The baby, named Archie Arnett, weighed in at 8 lbs., 1 oz. at time of birth. He is Amy and her actor husband Will Arnett's first child.
"On behalf of Amy and Will, I can confirm that Amy gave birth to Archie Arnett on Saturday, October 25th," the actress' representative Lewis Kay said in a statement. "Amy, Will and Archie are all healthy and resting comfortably," Lewis added.

After a confirmation over the weekend, Palin as herself appeared on the sketch show, joined by Fey, Alec Baldwin and Mark Wahlberg.
The skit, first introduced by the so called representative of Palin, requested the journalists who attended the 'press conference' to be "seriously cool". Fey then came in as Palin, answering some questions from the press such as her view on John McCain's final debate with opponent Barack Obama. Fey said of Obama, "His words are smooth when he's talking, he's like an angel whispering in your ear. He makes John McCain sound like a garbage truck unloading trash at a landfill."

Extending their partnership from SNL's "Weekend Update" to the big screen, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are set to star in "Baby Mama", a new comedic feature from Universal Pictures.
Planned to be shot next summer when both Fey and Poehler have some time off from their TV stints, the project centers on a single career woman who decides to hire a surrogate to satisfy her desire of having a child while at the same time still able to keep her career. Michael McCullers has been tapped to both write and direct with Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn producing.

DreamWorks Animation announced Thursday July 13th, that the final cast for its upcoming computer-animated comedy "Shrek the Third" has been set. The studio will keep maintaining the flick's original cast from "Shrek" and "Shrek 2", Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett, Julie Andrews and John Cleese.
Joining the cast for "Shrek the Third" is an all-new ensemble of actors and comedians. They among others are Amy Sedaris as Cinderella, Amy Poehler as Snow White, Maya Rudolph as Rapunzel and Cheri Oteri as Sleeping Beauty. Also joining the hit animated comedy's cast are Ian McShane as Captain Hook, John Krasinski as Sir Lancelot, and Monty Python veteran Eric Idle as Merlin the magician.
