Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life is an upcoming film based on the 1996 book of the same name by James Patterson and Chris Tebbetts. The film follows Rafe Khatchadorian, a sixth grader who is trying to survive the worst years of his life. The film stars Griffin Gluck as Rafe, Lauren Graham as his mother, and Thomas Barbusca as his best friend Leo. The film is directed by Steve Carr and is set to be released on October 7, 2016. A TV spot for the film, titled "Whole Family", was released on YouTube on August 1, 2016. The spot shows Rafe and his family getting ready for his first day of middle school. Rafe is nervous about starting middle school, but his family is there to support him. The spot ends with Rafe saying, "Middle school: the worst years of my life."
