On the day of her arraignment, the Russian spy responsible for David's death is ready to disclose her inside source at the FBI -- but she's killed before she can reveal a name. So Inspector Fischer (John Hodgman), still angling for Mayfair's (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) job, returns to investigate the compromised New York Office and pinpoint the mole. Agent Sloane also visits and brings Roman, an informant who worked with the Russian spy ring. Fischer administers polygraph tests to the team and concocts an elaborate story to implicate Jane (Jaimie Alexander) as the mole and Carter's (Michael Gaston) killer -- which becomes even more convincing when Roman identifies Jane from a photo. But while Jane's being taken into custody, Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) realizes that Fischer is actually the mole and was forcing Roman to cooperate with his scheme. A chase ensues, Jane disarms two guards - while handcuffed! - and she comes face to face with Fischer. He reaches for what may or may not be a gun, but Jane doesn't wait to find out; she shoots him in the heart and he dies immediately. Jane later meets with Oscar (François Arnaud) and asks him who they're working for. He avoids answering her directly, but assures her of two things: They're not working with the Russians, and killing Fischer was necessary to protect her secret - their secret.

More fallout occurs as a result of the investigation: Zapata (Audrey Esparza) finds out that her apartment was bugged and someone from the CIA might still have an eye on her. Under pressure, Reade (Rob Brown) tells Weller about his relationship with Sarah, which Weller is not pleased about. And after all's said and done, Reade approaches Mayfair, concerned that Jane had no alibi for the night Carter was killed. Mayfair agrees and poses a question: Now what are they going to do about it?
